Dear Class,

I'm leaving for Australia at 6:45PM today (Mountain Standard Time). I fly first to San Fransisco, California. It takes about 2 hours to fly there, but with the hour time change (they are one hour behind) I land in San Fransisco at 7:45PM (Pacific Standard Time). Then I have about 2 hours in the airport and will go through customs (they check to make sure I can bring everything I have with me into Australia). I fly for 15 hours from San Fransisco to Sydney. That is a LONG flight! I'll show you pictures of Sydney soon. I'll be in Sydney for 12 hours and then will fly to Darwin.

Deciding what to pack was difficult for me because in Salt Lake City it is going to snow today (see attached pictures) and in Australia it is their summer. I just looked at the climate averages in Darwin, Australia (where I will be living for the next 4 1/2 weeks) and it is going to be hot! I found out what the average maximum temperature is in Darwin and minimum average temperature is in Darwin, can you find it? I was debating whether or not I'd need this sweater because it is hard to imagine that I won't be cold there. I am so cold here, but I know because I looked at the climate data that bringing a heavy sweater doesn't make sense.

I'm really excited for my trip! I'll send you an e-mail once I get there.

Lis
