I just did a static electricity lesson for the emerson 5th graders yesterday and it went pretty well. I introduced atoms with electrons, protons, and neutrons. Then talked about passing electrons and eventually went on to charges. We did the usual balloon/hair and then we went on to tape tricks. It's a really neat way to determine positive and negative charge and the students were really excited about it.
