Field trips
Field trips are one of the best ways for students to experience scientific inquiry. An abundance of natural resources lie with a few minutes of Salt Lake City and provide ample opportunity for outdoor learning experiences. WEST fellows have led field trips to Great Salt Lake, Rock Cliff Nature Preserve, the Layton wetlands, Antelope Island, Snow Canyon, Little Cottonwood Canyon, Warm Springs, the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and more. A WEST-funded field trip aims to involve students in all aspects of scientific discovery. From planning, to observation, data collection, and analysis, students are immersed in the scientific process as they observe the natural world around them. See the WEST Field Trip Guidelines for more information.
