FIELD OF STUDY
Paleoanthropology & tephrostratigraphy

BACKGROUND
  • B.A. - University of California, Berkeley, 1965
  • Ph.D. - University of California, Berkeley, 1971
  • Research Associate, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, 1989–present.
  • Scientific Executive Committe, L.S.B. Leakey Foundation, 1993–present.

RESEARCH INTERESTS & PROJECTS
My interests remain in applying geological techniques to determining the age and stratigraphy of deposits in the Turkana Basin of Southern Ethiopia and Northern Kenya, where I began work in 1966.  In addition, I hope to transfer as much knowledge as possible to younger workers through collaboration in the field.
