21 million dollar Landmark/Halliburton grant awarded

The Geology and Geophysics Department, the Energy Geoscience Institute (EGI), and the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Utah were recently awarded a software grant worth over $21 million.

The gift is part of Halliburton and Landmark Graphics Corporation Strategic University Alliance Grant program. The grant allows for installation of several applications widely used in the petroleum industry, including seismic interpretation and processing software and data management solutions for large subsurface databases (eg., SeisWorks, ProMax, and others). The new software will be loaded on 19 workstations in GG's computer lab, and will be used by Jerry Schuster and Cari Johnson in GG's Petroleum Industry Career Path (PICP) courses as well as other advanced classes and research projects.
