Robert B. Smith Received the 2007 Lehi Hintze Award For Outstanding Contributions to the Geology of Utah




Dr. Robert B. Smith was awarded the 2007 Lehi Hintze Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Geology of Utah by the Utah Geological Association (UGA) and the Utah Geological Survey (UGS) at UGA’s November 19th, 2007 meeting. The award recognizes Dr. Smith’s contributions over the last 40 years to the understanding of the geology of Utah by interpreting the seismicity, earthquake hazards, crustal structure and seismo-tectonics of the region and within Western North America. He has popularized geology and geophysics, been a remarkably productive and distinguished earth scientist, as well as an educator.
