Undergraduate Studies
UTAH, the perfect place to study Earth Science. The University of Utah and the Department of Geology and Geophysics offer an outstanding education, and Utah offers an exceptional quality of life with its mountains, rivers and lakes. Skiing is as close as a thirty-minute drive. An afternoon or weekend hike or rock climb is moments away. You can be on your way to kayaking in no time. The scenic diversity ranges from our beautiful Rocky Mountains to the spectacular red rocks of southern Utah.
Majors The Department offers B.S. degrees in Geoscience (with emphases in Geology, Geophysics or Environmental Geoscience), Geological Engineering and Earth Science Teaching. All majors are ‘open’ meaning that you do not need to be officially accepted into the program. You do need to see an academic advisor to declare your major however, and we suggest you do this as early in your college career as possible. Contact Kim Atwater at 581-6553.
